Annual NCO Family Picnic, September 17
The NCO Family Picnic is a simple idea. Come, hang out with friends, swap stories, meet new additions to the NCO family of ministers. In the process, enjoy some great food from City BBQ. It’s all free! The picnic will be held Friday, September 17, 6:00-9:00 pm, at the Mansion Shelter in Highbanks Metro Park, just north of Worthington on the west side of US 23. Please reply to this Update to let us know how many from your family plan to attend. It will be a great evening.
NCO Fall Exams, September 15
Our fall ministerium exam date is set for Wednesday, September 15, 9:30 AM at Grace Polaris. We have two men sitting for ordination exams – John Shirley and Jonathon Wiley. The ordination exam consists of a man’s reflection on his ministry, a brief report on books he read on pastoral leadership, his interaction with counseling case studies, and the feedback he received from those in his ministry. Make it a priority to be at these exams for these two men. You might think, “With only two men for exams my presence is not necessary or critical.” But it is. We all benefit from these exams – our questions and discussions with these men AND among ourselves as examiners is part of the “iron sharpens iron” aspect of ministry. See you September 15!
GBIM Day of Generosity Cycling Tour, October 16
Last year we hosted the cycling tour with the help of 7 churches. Participant registration fees and donations went to the Day of Generosity and together we cycled an estimated 1,500 miles. This year we are excited to partner with the Tour de Brethren, led by our friends Dale Dunn and Larry Hall, to bring some exciting changes to this cycling event. We are planning to host the event on Saturday, October 16th at 8:30am in Galena, Ohio at McNamara Park. This venue gives us the ability to host a 5 to 10 mile ride along dedicated bike trial, prefect for families who want to join in the fun and it should be noted that this year we are introducing a family rate.(See the attached flyer for rates) For the weekend warriors we will have a 20 mile ride and finally for those who love speed we’ll host a 27 mile race. We’ll celebrate after the tour with a cookout in the park for participants and volunteers.
